SpIFF 2012 Schedule and Tickets Available Now!

See what goodies SpIFF is bringing this year!
This Thursday, January 26th, the festival begins with Natural Selection, preceded by the short film High Strung. As an extra special treat, the directors for both of these films will be in attendance! To make your night complete, the SpIFF Opening Party will once again be on the main floor of River Park Square after the screening.

What else will this year’s Spokane International Film Festival bring to Spokane? Two words, “A LOT!”

The programmers of the festival scouted high and low to find some of the most fascinating and entertaining films making their way around the international film circuit.

To name just a few, from Spain we have Amador, La orquesta de las mariposas (The Butterfly Orchestra), and Error 0036. From France, SpIFF brings us

A Cat in Paris (Une Vie de Chat), The Fairy, Nobody Else But You (Poupoupidou), and Dernier étage gauche gauche (Top Floor, Left Wing). Woman in a Septic Tank hails from the Philippines, while Der Sandmann (The Sandman) comes to us from Switzerland. Films from South Korea, China and the UK, among others, will be screened as well.

Some of the filmmakers lined up to attend SpIFF screenings include director Alexia Anastasio of Adventures in Plymptoons, co-writer Fred Rice of

Man without a Cell Phone (Ish lelo selolari), and, after 27 years, Matthew Modine returns to Spokane to screen his new short film Jesus was a Commie. Matthew is also involved with two other films at the festival, Alexia Anastasio’s Adventures in Plymptoons and Bill Plymton’s The Flying House. Matthew Modine will also be on hand for a co-sponsored event with the Garland Business District: a screening of 1985′s Vision Quest and a silent auction to help raise money for the Milk Bottle and Ferguson’s Cafe. One item on the auction block is a dinner for 4 with Matthew Modine.

But this is just scratching the surface. To help you navigate the screenings — held at Magic Lantern, The Bing Crosby Theater and the AMC (don’t forget the Garland Theater) — you can download the Program from this link on the Spokane International Film Festival Website or check out the current lineup online. Most importantly, buy your tickets online before the shows you want to see are sold out!

Now Go Get Your Festival On!
